Filters, Posting Formats and Other Posts
Filters are security options that our characters can use to limit viewing of their entries to the specific people of groups of people they choose. We won't make actual filters, though, since the players have to let all the other players see everything. When you make character posts, just indicate if the post is PUBLIC, FILTERED, or PRIVATE, and the rest of the cast will respond accordingly. Filters are useful for menu planning, sharing restaurant-relevant secrets with the staff of the establishment, or for simple gossiping and communication. PUBLIC posts are open to all the characters, no matter who they are. FILTERED posts are viewable only to the person included in the filter unless stated otherwise (for example, accidental public posts). PRIVATE posts are viewable only to the journal owner unless stated otherwise (see above). Example of a post: [Public] This is assuming that each segment is actually a separate post unless indicated otherwise, and that the resulting threads will be screened accordingly. However, to be safe, title your more sensitive comment threads with [Screened] to make sure that the other characters aren't able to see the comments IC. Let's assume that in this version of LJ where all is well and good, comment posters can actually screen their own damn comments. Please note that your characters can also make voice and video posts, although they will all have to be in text format so you'll have to describe what the viewer can see/hear in the post. For example: [Filtered to Kano - Voice] You are also free to make non-journal posts using the character's journal, like phone calls and email exchanges. Just indicate it in the title and specify stuff in the OOC, so the other players can stay out of the post. Include text-explanations of sights/sounds if applicable. If it's too complicated, try a log! Again, log posts (the RP that goes into the comm and are done in prose form) have this format: |
